Lending a hand to the disabled

AS PART of the AmBank Group’s CSR programme, the Group has contributed RM25,000 towards the renovation cost of the OKU Dobi at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.

The OKU Dobi aims to improve the lives of the disabled whereby they can contribute to the society as well. The is one of the first business programmes for OKUs to independently operate a business by themselves in a major mall with support from the Ministry of Welfare, Mid Valley Megamall, the NGOs and their families.

“We are delighted that the renovation has been completed as the outlet is now fully operational for the OKUs to run the laundry business. AmBank Group is very happy to have been given the opportunity to participate in a community project like this. It addresses real needs and is of real value and will be supported and maintained for the long term,” said AmBank Group public affairs director Syed Anuar Syed Ali .

“In this regard, we are very pleased with the Mid Valley City’s contribution of providing space for the OKUs to run a business and contribute to the society as well. The commitment shown from the OKUs and their parents is exemplary in giving hope to other OKUs to operate and establish a business like this,” he added.

The OKU Dobi is located at Basement 2, South Court, Mid Valley Megamall.

OKU Dobi Launch!

Mid Valley Megamall was good enough to provide space free of charge for the OKUs. Together with the generous financial support of Tan Sri Azman Hashim (AmBank Group) who is the main sponsor and other benevolent well wishers like Dato' Tony Tiah and Mr. Tan Ee Teck, the OKU Dobi Sdn. Bhd. is set to become reality.

This milestone project is strongly supported by the Ministry of Social Welfare (JKM) and the Selangor Cheshire Home. After what has taken two months, the OKU Dobi Sdn. Bhd. will be launched by Dato' Meme Zainal Rashid, Ketua Pengarah of JKM on Friday 22nd October 2010 at 3pm.
